The Generation Google Scholarship for Women in Computer Science aims to support students pursuing computer science degrees and empower them to become technology leaders. Successful candidates will receive USD 2,500 for the academic year 2024-2025. Selection is based on criteria such as commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrated leadership, and academic performance.
Generation Google Scholarship
The scholarship is open to students who meet the program’s minimum qualifications. If you are a woman who is interested in computer science, you are encouraged to apply. However, if you are a past recipient of the following scholarships: the Generation Google Scholarship, Generation Google Scholarship for Women in Gaming, Generation Google Scholarship for Women in Computer Science in Ireland, Generation Google Scholarship for Supply Chain and Fulfillment, Google Lime Scholarship, Google Student Veterans of America Scholarship, Women Techmakers Scholarship for Computer Science, Women Techmakers Scholarship for Gaming, Google Europe Students with Disabilities Scholarship, or Venkat Panchapakesan Scholarships India, you are not eligible to apply.
Eligibility for Generation Google Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship, you:
- Must be currently enrolled as full-time second or third-year undergraduate students at any accredited universities in the Asia Pacific region for the 2023-2024 academic year.
- Should intend to continue pursuing a full-time Bachelor’s program at accredited universities in the Asia Pacific region for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Must be interested in any of the following fields; computer science, computer engineering, or closely related technical fields.
- Must have a strong academic record and demonstrate leadership qualities, especially in improving the representation of underrepresented groups in computer science and technology.

- Selected students will receive an amount of USD 2,500 for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Application Process
To apply, you need to complete an online application, which includes:
- General background information such as contact details and current/intended universities.
- Submission of a resume/CV highlighting leadership roles, extracurricular activities, and efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Academic transcripts from the current institution.
- Responses to two short answer essay questions (500 words or less each) assessing problem-solving skills and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Essay Questions
- Describe a time when you encountered a complex problem without a clear solution path. Explain the steps you took to solve it, including the resources and solutions considered, and lessons learned from the experience.
- From personal experience, identify a barrier to equitable access in the technology field. Discuss its root cause, actions taken to address the inequity, and plans for addressing such barriers.

- A PDF copy of your resume (including leadership positions, extracurricular activities, and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts).
