The Kahotea Outstanding Achievement Scholarship provides up to NZD $35,000 in support over three years. The benefits are structured as follows:
- For students living in a VUW hall of residence:
- Full accommodation costs in the first year.
- $5,000 towards tuition fees in the first and second years.
- A $5,000 stipend in the third year.
- For students not in a hall of residence:
- A $15,000 tuition fee contribution spread across the first and second years.
- A $5,000 stipend in the third year.

- Awards are based on both academic excellence and achievements in the relevant area (e.g., culture, leadership, equity, sport, or community engagement).
- There is no separate application—students are automatically considered when applying for the listed scholarships.
